Songbirds dont cry part 2
Around the start of march, rumors were kinda starting up that uni would close, at this point i took no notice of the situation, i honestly just fought it was another thing in the news which would pass.
Around the 9th of march Kris and myself found a location on campus we could use as a gp’s office which was a relief. Normally getting access to any medical location would be troublesome for a student project, so we had to make due with a location on campus. Needs must and this would do the job just as well.
And by the 15th the film was cancelled. The nation was on the brink of lock-down, covid 19 had struck and safety was now the only concern for everyone, especially those who were around elderly or people with under lying health conditions. As a group we were a little lost at this point and had considered filming something, but considering the situation we just called it off.
I suppose we could either feel relief of not actually having to undertake the scale of the project anymore, or heartbreak that something we put time into had been called off. I honestly don’t know which is for me, maybe both.
During this next limbo phase, i mainly sat. Worried about the world. Worried about my kids, my wife, my family, my friends. I was honestly really fucking scared. I hate change at the best of time but this was a change on a massive scale.
23rd of march, date of UK national lockdown.
I believe during this time, i went through a brief moment were i was lost and didn’t know what to do, so i just did what i knew i could, which was take good care of those i loved. It’s actually quite weird writing about this, but it’s the truth. The project was the last thing on my mind.
