Xmas in rehab
Near the end of the pandemic, my friend Paul contacted me about a short story by Alan Cope. Things kinda spiralled after that and we ended up making a short film. A short film that was shot inside a real rehab working with a cast of people within the recovery community. I think this was around 2022. I remember wearing masks and covid testing before and on set. What a strange time. We kept moving forwards in terms of goals. Alan, Paul and myself each brought something that resulted in a short film.
Right after finishing Xmas in rehab, we had it in a little art festival in Glasgow and it was seen by a few people. The film was then featured in the opening night of a charity called ‘The scheme’ Where it was seen by more people.
Xmas in rehab was a great short film to make and it really performed well considering it was all made with absolutely nothing.
Aye so one of the videos above was a totally alternate opening sequence, It got removed because it feels to fun and happy, almost like a soap/sitcom. This wasn’t the tone we were sitting, we tried not to make it fun and not to make it grim and shocking, we wanted and real but surreal. No here or there but just be itself. It’s a Christmas film that has almost nothing to do with Christmas, Its coming from the place of a heightened emotional state.
