Time signatures

Im not a musician but i think most music is in a 4/4 time signature.

Then you get bands like Tool, Rush and Dream theater who completely and total choose to not do that. They adjust the time signatures of the song at will because they can. They understand the process and do music that excites them as musicians.

Most people don’t even think about time signatures but they hear it, they feel and they dance to it.

but you get people who can’t dance and can’t feel the beat but they can still hear it and it does something.

Progressive rock.
